Malachite

This natural piece of malachite comes from Congo, from Katanga area. This stone is very easily recognizable due to its green color. Since the middle age, malachite is used as a pigment in the painting for its clear and bright blue-green tones, in particular in the icons painting. Pline quotes it for the first time in 77 after JC.
