Aloalo from Mahafaly tribe, Madagascar

The Mahafaly people are a tribe of Madagascar who makes for their deaths a totem called Aloalo. It has to represent the life of the person that died. For example in that case, the man was an owner of cattle and had travelled by car.
To save this memory, we proposed to the family an exchange against a new totem. Indeed it vanishes year after year with the sun and rain of Madagascar. This Aloalo have been standing outside for around 40 years.
